Lucky

After doing a bunch of research on ALTs and JTEs, as well as other education related subjects, I have come to a few conclusions. First, for the most part ALTs (at least in Kumamoto) are a competent group of people who want to help the kids that they teach. There are a few asshats out there who parasitize the program by signing up or recontracting not because of the kids or the community, but to earn a decent wage, to travel, or to score some easy tail. While these are all good reasons to join and stick with the JET Programme, they should not be THE reason why one decides to teach in Japan. Also, after talking with other JETs and hearing various stories I am convinced that the program tends to attract a lot of pedophiles. What better job for a pedophile is there than being a teacher, and what better excuse that claiming "cultural differences". Ah, but I am straying from my list of inferences.
I am also aware that I am very lucky. I get to meet with my classes frequently, and have earned a role in being responsible for my classes.
