Jesus Christ Pose (kid version)

jesuschristkid.jpg

I was eating kyushoku with the kids at my elementary school, when they asked me why I spike my hair. I told them "God told me to", and for some reason, the kid on the right stood up on a chair and acted out dying on the cross. "I'm Jesus Christ!" he said as the other kids laughed. It was so offensive, that I couldn't contain my laughter. As I was laughing, the words "Blashpemer! You're going straight to hell!" jumped into my head. Ah, I love teaching at elementary school.

The incident reminds me of the story about the Japanese department store in Tokyo that displayed a smiling crucified Santa during Chrismas. Its disappointing when you can't confirm a good story like this.

Ahahaha!!!

I have always found it fascinating that oriental folks - Japanese in particular have this love affair with the two finger salute (at one point, the peace sign in the sixties and seventies. I believe the origins are around the Vietnam War. It must be an inherent condition. I'd bet if you asked the kids why they did it - they'd say 'because their parents did it'. And then there's the 'V' for victory thing from WW2. Finally, I guess two is better than one - in most cases. Hmmmmmmmmm.

Don't forget the Backhand two finger salute for "up yours." My Grandad still swears that the British invented Curry (the stew). I think that a crucified Santa brings great merit to a Western Capitalized Schlacking of a Religious holdiday. The Japanese captured it well...whether intentionally or neah. I still love presents and gathering with family though. I hate myself. =

I think that its impressive your kids know that much about Christmas, when mine don't know what half of the Japanese religious holidays are about.

Crucified Santa makes me cry.

But makes the Grinch smile.
